Qualifications and Achievements:
Degree in Science, Degree in Mathematics, and Bachelor of Education
Teaching Experience - 40 years.
Working with Communities - 34 years.
Recipient of Prime Minister’s Centenary Medal for community Services.
I was a member of State Teachers Union for 24 years and have served as Union representative of my workplace for 15 years.
Lived in New Zealand 1969 -1981, was President of Federation of Islamic associations of NewZealand Established relationship with the Indian Community in Zew Zealand. Muslims and people of the Sub-Continent worked together to achieve recognnition from NZ Govt. Helped in the construction of first community centre in Wellington. Assisted in exporting and certification of Halal products to Middle East and Iran.
In December 1981 arrived in Perth. Joined Perth Muslim Association and then moved on to the Islamic Council of WA and President of Australian Federation of Islamic Councils (a National body).
Joined AAA in 1989 and same year was elected on the Executive Committee. Since then I am with AAA’s Executive holding various positions. I found working with AAA and its members a wonderful and satisfying experience.
Ghauri family is life members of Indian Society and Hindi Smaj. Closely associated with the Sikh Association and have been on the executive of Pakistan Association of WA in various capacities. I am President of Pakistan Australian Cultural and Welfare Association of WA. I have been/ still am on various committees, Police Advisory Committee, WA Safety Committee, Outback Drugs Eradication Committee and Community Safety Committee of Vic. Park Shire.
